Pimm's Cup
My husband and I spent last weekend in New Orleans for Jazzfest and couldn't find any souvenirs worthy of bringing home. Our 10-month old has no room for a dusty voodoo doll (nor do we need the ailments this may bring).
Before heading home, we stumbled upon Cafe Atchafalaya while sight seeing in the Garden District and decided to grab some brunch. Everywhere we ate in New Orleans had us licking our plates (Restaurant August, Cochon, Jazzfest tents...) but we didn't expect to discover a drink other than the famous Hurricane.
While waiting for our table outside in the Louisiana HEAT, we wanted a drink that was a) super refreshing, and b) would keep our vacation buzz going... and the Pimm's cup was PERFECT. So much so, that we decided to make them at home. A recipe - the best kind of souvenir!
Pimm's Liqueur
Lime soda (or something similar, like Sprite)
Fresh cucumber
Fresh lemon
ice
Fill a rocks glass half way with ice and slices of fresh cucumber. Fill the glass 2/3 with lime soda, and top the last 1/3 with Pimm's. Squeeze juice from a big lemon wedge on top and drop the wedge inside. Garnish with a cucumber slice.
They are so refreshing and barely taste of alcohol, we were using ratios closer to 50/50. But be warned, they'll sneak right up on you.
